As the other person said, it's nearly a standard feature anymore. However: My digital camera is quite large, as it's a Pentax with changeable lenses. Not practical to haul around all the time. Cell phone cams are great when you're out shopping, need to note down a phone number on a sign, or even just the color scheme on a house you like. Little things.

Most cellphones have cameras these days its really become a standard feature rather then a novelty.

So that they don't have to carry around two different pieces of equipment in their pockets, when they can just carry around one device which does all things. Now they can use their extra pocket to carry something else (like lose change).
