I can only speak for myself and I don't promise I fully understand what you meant by the question.
It's not that I "trash them", they are an exciting Young team and Crosby is the most talented player to come around in a while. What I am trashing are the sportscasters, media and people here at Y!A who think Crosby is the only player in the NHL and the Penguins the only team. Sorry to have to do this AGAIN, but there are some simple things people need to be aware of:
* MANY people have scored MORE points in a season then Crosby's 120.
* Thornton and Lecavalier were not that far behind.
* Iginla, Lidstrom, and others are more complete players
* Brodeur and Luongo had AMAZING years as Goaltenders, but because of the Crosby hysteria nobody knows.
* Crosby has a LONG way to go yet before he can even BEGIN to be compared with Gretzky, Lemieux, etc.
* The Penguins need get more playoff experience and upgrade their defense before they will win a Stanley Cup. 2-3 years, but not now.

just to let you no, that people will keep trashing great players just because there great at what they do. Crosby is amazing and just the way he plays the game and how mature he is a the age of 19 is just great for the game of hockey. they have a great bright future ahead of them. and I'm not a Pens fan, but i am a Crosby fan. JUST TO LET YOU KNOW IF THEY PENS DON'T MAKE IT OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND THIS YEAR YOU WILL HEAR TRASH TALK OF CROSBY ALL NEXT YEAR TILL HE FINALLY WINS A PLAYOFF SERIES.
and remember it took the Edmonton Oilers of the 80's 5 years to win their first Stanley cup they where a young team and had to learn from the playoffs. this was a young team with players such as Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Anderson, Fuhr and Coffey. so give the team a good 3 years then they will get the experience these young players really need.
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Mr. Taco said everything that needed to be said...
Crosby and the Penguins will have plenty of chances in the near future. Trashing is a part of being a sports fan, so don't worry about it... I'm a Rangers fan so I'm used to it.
obtw Jay L... since you watch so much Hockey you should realize that NHL playoffs are best of 7... not 5... so winning 3-1 is not very possible...

Well, it's like this: for some reason, these people don't understand that it isn't the Penguins' fault that Crosby is so hyped. And it isn't the Penguins' fault that their fans booed the anthem. For some reason, they feel like they have to hate a team because of things people do that aren't associated with the team. It's very illogical, actually.
Then there are the people who feel like they just have to be contrary. All of us Penguins fans have been suffering through years of terrible hockey, and now we're excited to finally have a playoff team and a great player. Well, what do these people do? They immediately start trashing us, calling us badnwagoners, and revelling in the fact that the Pens are losing.
Look, we happen to like our team no matter how well they do. If you find fulfillment in being contrary, so be it. You just make yourself look stupid.

It's jealousy. Whenever you have the best player in the world on your team or your team is really good, people are going to come after you. Gretzky and Oiler fans had to put up with it in the 80s. Everyone kept saying how overrated he was, and how the Oilers were no good... and all they did was keep breaking records and winning Cups. Did people stop whining about them then? Heck no! Lemieux and the Pens in the early 90s went through the same thing. Get used to it. In fact, I recommend that you ENJOY it. The more people gripe, the better you know your team is. It is just a part of sports. I'm a Wings fan, and ever since the 1997 season I have had to listen to people tell me how much Detroit sucks and how overrated Lidstrom or Yzerman or Zetterberg are or were. As we keep racking up wins and Cups, it just makes me smile. Crosby is really something. Odds are you'll be smiling your way to a Cup or two in a couple of years, too.

cause the pens have always had a high calibre player and they have been fighting to keep the team in pittsburgh for a long time.. as for crosby it all has to do with the time spent on him compared to other players ... he might be great but it takes a team to win not 1 player in particular.. everytime he got a point it was mentioned as if he is a god but you don't get that with other players..its not jealousy its more of a media circus who emphasizes a player in particular.. they should remember that fans appreciate other players as well... thats why i like montreal especially when roy left the team cause they emphasize on many players NOT JUST ONE

The people who trash them probably didn't watch one single Pens game all season and are just going along with the rest of the people here. Talk about bandwagoning...
Crosby and the Pens are awesome and those who disagree are sadly mistaken...
Let's Go Pens!!!

well for one most people dont like crosby because of all the hype that got built about him. Everytime I read a story its usually about how great crosby is and how close he is to being god. And two people dont like penguins because of their fans behavior and the booming of the canadian anthem.

Balance. Praise to skill ratio. Theyre not a bad team, but they get more credit than they deserve. With how much theyre talked about, it seems like they should be the best team ever. But theyre not, so people talk trash about them to balance out how blown out of proportion they are.
