The State of California has prison over population problems. There are some other states with similar issues and in all states a lot of money is put into housing prisoners. Well the people of Iraq need jobs, need something to sustain their economy, and flying prisoners there wouldn't really be that expensive. Plus if we put them in orange jump suits they probably won't want to escape right? And if we built them on the border with Iran we could monitor illegal border crossings as well! Its a total win win situation - why not?

It might cost $2000 round trip to fly prisoners to Iraq including reasonable security in flight. A prison guard in California costs the state over $100k a year and the average worker in Iraq earns less then $5k. So we'd save a lot more then frequent flyer miles in having them guarded by Iraqis.

not a bad idea at all. lol. great idea. tell that to bush. i think the insurgents would still try to kill the criminals in the prison. criminal or no criminal they are still americans so i'm sure the insurgents would want them dead anyways.
It would kind of suck for us soldiers since we have to be the ones to guard the prisons. the prisons would definitely have to be on a FOB(Forward Operating base) in Iraq so that would put more load on our part and less focus on the enemy. now not only do we have to worry about the insurgents but we also have to worry about the criminals from our own country from trying to commit crimes. a big pain

Plus the laws are different in Iraq, I don't think they have the same human rights.

You also forget that the prisoners will need transport home again when there time is up!

Are you going to fund the budget to ship their asses to Iraq to sit in prison? It still costs money to transport prisoners, they don't get to travel for free. And, where will you get the funding to build these prisons? And to pay the people to work at them? Plus, Iraq is not the 51st state, they need to be independent so we can bring our troops home. They need to sort out their own business, we have plenty of issues that need attention and maintenance.
Hey, dude, I'm on your side, this idea just isn't cost efficient at this time. Would execution of all death row inmates within one month of sentencing be more cost efficient?

I hope you're going to ask those fine folks in Iraq if they want more of your American criminals over there.
