you can't bleed a water pump. a water pump is either good or bad and if it's bad it's has to be replaced. The fan that helps cool your engine and runs off of a relay and if the relay is bad the fan doesn't work and it will cause your car to overheat. I believe to replace a waterpump it will cost around 400.00 plus and maybe a little more if they replace the timing belt which they should suggest.

If your radiator ran out of anti-freeze, or was low, then you need to first fix the leak. If there is no leak, you need to bleed the cooling system. There is a valve 10mm located at the top of the engine. you open this while you add fluid to the system. This removes the air bubble from the top of the cooling sysem. You also have a thermostat located on the radiator and on the engine block. It sounds like your engine overheated because the thermostat did not sense the high temperature, and did not turn on the cooling fans on the radiator, which caused the fluid to expand, forcing it into the cooling system reservoir., which overflowed.
Do not drive the car unless you want tobuy a new engine without fixing this problem.

Did you get the estimate from a mechanic or just some guy off the street? I can't see a mechanic saying that anything needs to be "bleeded", since that's not a word. HOWEVER... aside from my sarcasm, any mechanic should give you a free estimate on what is wrong and how much the parts and labor will cost. Its all part of the service.

You don't need to bleed the water pump. Since you never said what was wrong with the car, nobody can tell you anything.
