Who came up with the names? And are they named after something or someone?

The earliest record is the ancient Babylonians who observed a seven-day week, and was based on the seven heavenly bodies visible to the naked eye (the Sun, Moon, and 5 visible planets). The names are derived from the planet's names (pagan gods) plus the sun and moon.
Abraham was born in Ur which was in or about to be in Babylon (biblical scholars estimate about 2000 BC) so it is reasonable that Jews would also have a 7 day week.

The days of the week are mostly of Scandinavian (Viking) origin.

The exceptions are Saturday (Saturn's day) which is based on Latin, and Sunday (Sun Day) and Monday (Moon Day).

The other days are named as follows,

Tuesday (after Tyr, the son of Odin)
Wednesday (after Wodan, the Old English form of Odin)
Thursday (after Thor, the god of thunder)
Friday (after Freya, the goddess of love and fertility)
