Could you show the steps from the balanced chemical equation to the final net ionic equation. I have several equations to do this for, and I'm just not sure I'm doing it correctly. Plus, my textbook doesn't provide a good example. Thank you so much!

Fe + H2SO4 -----> FeSO4 + H2

Miss out the (SO4)2- ions, because they don't do anything. The 2 after the H in sulphuric acid now comes up front, but H2 for hydrogen gas stays as it is because the gas is covalent:

Fe + 2H+ -----> Fe2+ + H2.
