She might be able to be sued. Her main concern is that no one know that can tell on her or testify against her. She also needs to dispose of the bleach jug and the receipt where she purchased it. Establish an alibi that is concrete.

I know she can legally be charged with vandalism and damage to personal property. Made to pay for repairs to the vehicle, pay all legal costs from both sides, pay court costs and fines

If she wants to rectify the situation before it comes to the point that the car is damaged, she can come clean with her Aunt and offer to have the gas tank pulled off and cleaned out, new fuel filter and gas lines flushed. This would actually be cheaper that getting caught. Plus, she would show that maybe she had learned a little something out of even attempting a prank like that out of revenge.

How many miles has the car been driven since it's last oil change? Have you maintained the oil level? How thick was the oil? Toyota's are known for engine sludge problems, so not changing it might be an issue here, depending upon the year and specific engine. When you checked the oil level was it fine? Just plain having oil is way more important than it's condition. If it's anything like a 2000 Camry with a 4 cylinder engine, the oil is very easy to change. Toyotanation forums and YouTube are your friends here. There are also many tutorials and videos on the internet. It would be difficult for you to do the job worse than Jiffy Lube type places. Yes, they really are that bad.

Yes. And depending on your state laws, she could have felony charges filed against her for malicious mischief or something of that sort. In the state where I live, any damage done to a vehicle in excess of 500.00 is a felony. Good luck?

Malicious vandalism is a crime . If your car doesn't come with a locked gas cap , you can buy a gas cap with a key for about $5.00 .

Sued, definitely.

Criminally prosecuted, most probably.

Not only sued, but arrested for criminal damage to property.
