i take it (orthotricyclin) soley to regulate my period so i'm not worried about getting pregnant; but sometimes i forget to take it for a day or 2, and other days i'll play catch up and take 2 a day, often i take it different times of day instead of the same 3 hour window. What happens if you take the under those 3 different circumstances? Also does starting a new pill cycle have any effect on my increased appitite, weight gain and bloating?

I don't think it is such a big deal since you are not sexually active (i'm assuming). But realize that eventhough you are only taking it to regulate your periods, not taking them can knock your body off balance. The different times are mainly set for people who are trying to not get pregnant ... it keeps the hormones at a constant. But you skipping days and then playing "catch up" is probably not good for your body. Just set your cell phone alarm for a time of the day when you are not busy and keep your pills in your purse or something.
But I think you're okay.
And yes, starting new pills can cause various side effects. If they become bothersome ask your doctor to switch your pills to something else. All b/c pills are different and what works for one might not work for another.
Good Luck

Whenever you are taking hormonal birth control you can expect symptoms like bloating, weight gain and increased appetite. You should also be aware that you might possibly get pregnant. The pill is not 100% effective and I have a few friends and family members who all conceived while on the pill.

Taking irregular doses might increase your chances of pregnancy even more.

Have you considered a natural method of birth control which will have NO side effects, like NFP? www.ccli.org is a good place to start and there are lots of websites for fertility awareness. It can help postpone or acheive a pregnancy.
