I would say that there is a lot of finger pointing going in every other direction than where it should which is at the killer. The guy went through the normal procedures to get the gun. He passed the background check. What more can be done? If someone has an intent to kill they will do it. He could have used a bomb if he wanted to. No matter what he had a plan to kill that day and when someone really wants to do something stopping them can be very hard. Who is to say what is best. If the students in the classes had guns, maybe one of them could have shot him before he killed so many people. So what do we do?

Um what are you talking about?
First off a legal immigrant should not be allowed to carry a gun. The US has a 7 day wait period on guns and you have to take a quiz and go through a background check before getting a gun. One of the questions were Have you ever been involuntarily sent to a mental institution? He checked no because he voluntarily went to the mental institution in 95
The truth is if someone wanted to go into a building and kill a bunch of people they can do it whenever they want to. There is no way to control that. Guns are illegally sold just as much as drugs. It is something that has and always will be going on no matter where you are. Its not only in the US

There is absolutely nothing that could have been done by the central government, though I do believe the administration at Virginia Tech does bear a heavy burden for having allowed the warning signs to go unchecked so long regarding this particular student. There was no legal reason why he shouldn't have been sold a gun. And at least guns sold legally are registered and we know who has them. If we make it more difficult to get guns or further restrict ownership, we'll only increase the number of black-market guns with no registration and make it harder to determine who out there actually owns the guns.

It's not the government's fault. If someone has in mind they want to kill people they will. It doesn't matter what type of protections are taken by the targets or law enforcement. Look at suicide bombers. They die to kill others. If someone is determined enough, nothing can stop them.
If, however, those students on campus with concealed carry permits were allowed to keep their arms in class, the guy might have been stopped sooner, rather than later. Instead the university confiscates them from law abiding citizens upon entering campus.

The problem is, bad people will find a way to get guns regardless if they're illegal and then good people will not have the weapons to defend themselves if they are outlawed. I'd feel vulnerable without my weapons and just because I own guns, does not by any means mean I will go on a shooting rampage. I have them for my own protection, as for I was once a victim of violence and I will not be a victim again.

It is true the guy had major problems and the worst part is the police did not stop him two hours before he killed 15 colleges. Its so stupid two hours evacuate the building and call the Police. Two hours is enough for Police Swat FBI CIA UNDERCOVER COPS AND THE ELITE SPEC AIL FORCES TO MOVE IN THE BUILDING!!!! Plus they didn't tell a killer was on the loose.
All you need to get a gun is to go in the military(seven guns!0 or Black Market(Friend!).
TO the Government you will try to stop people with force but not with love. To do this listen to warning signs.

What happened in VA had NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR GOVERNMENT. How about hanging the teacher that knew about his violence and didn't stay up on him???
There are mentally ill people in this country and what that has to do with our government I'll never no!
They could have increased security and it still would have happened! There is no way to prevent some crazy person from doing something like this, unless people who knew kept up on making sure he got help!

WHy do you think it's the "government's" fault for some psycho being the way he was?
Guns don't kill people, People kill people -- that's the truth.
If guns are outlawed, then only outlaws (and psychos) will have guns -- there's truth in that statement, too! If the dude really wanted to kill someone bad enough, do you think some gun control law would stop him from getting a gun illegally?
If it wasn't a gun, then maybe he would have knifed people to death, or used a baseball bat, or something else. Are you wanting to take away knives and baseball bats, too?

I will get 10 thumbs down for this on these redneck boards, but here's the truth: Currently the gov. is in the hip pocket of people who are completely beholden to powerful and monied lobbies, such as NRA. As long as our way of governing allows the bagmen with the largest satchels full of cash to influence policies, nothing will be done about some of the United States' worst problems, like healthcare (insurance lobbies and dr. lobbies) and gun crime (the NRA).
