Yes! I have been through that 3 times!!! And every single time it was someone who I shouldn't be having feelings for. It made me feel a little depressed.

good clue #1: you wish you could NOT be the thinking-about-someone-else person.
You KNOW, you are enjoying the replays of the past. something there is making you feel alive, like pressing on a bruise. Ouch that hurts. OUCH that HURTS. Pain is fascinating because it is always sharp and vivid.
You "know what is wrong" but you are fascinated by it.
So, a lot of the suggestions here focus on SUBSTITUTION - find something ELSE that you will enjoy more. Try hitting golf balls -- it feels great to smack the crap out of them, and learning new skill will get you involved with other folks from other walks of life.
It is hard to walk AWAY from an old thing -- easier to walk TOWARDS a new thing.
as long as you are wanting to "ERASE", you are focused on holding on. You are seeing that person, thinking "if I could just stop thinking about..."
When you really do let go, it will be because you will be doing something else you like. You may not realize you are no longer obsessing -- for days at a time.
Get off the couch and get into a new groove!
Try walking, swinging your arms and feeling the tingle of the blood in your fingertips. Feel the crunch of the gravel benath your toes. On that moment the the thinking-about-someone-else person is no longer present.
Spend some pleasant time with the You who is not the thinking-about-someone-else person. Get to know that new you, listen to this new person's thoughts.
good luck

Yes, my pass boyfriend I really cared for him but we were not good together, I loved him than and still do and no matter how much time goes by or who I am with I still think of him often. It's been 3 years since we broke up and every now and than he calls me and I hate that because it resurface some feelings I had pushed in the back of my mind 4 him.
I've prayed 4 GOD 2 take these feelings away, it does not work so I just live with it, but I don't react 2 it, I don't spend time with him or visit because I no it is possible 4 him 2 manipulate the situation because he is aware i still have feelings.

Yes this would include love, detainment and everything in between. I have learned that those feelings are real; yet I have control to accept and not necessary react towards them. That's the difference between maturity and uncontrollable rage.

"Delete"
"Delete"
"Delete"
Like in the movie, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind". Yeah, I've screamed for it, but can't find one anywhere.
