Ok, so my freind bought me a egg today( I asked for one), the chicked laid it last night, and he took it & kept it in a incubator & then bought the egg to school for me, So :

1. does this mean that the egg wont hatch even if I keep it heated 4 the 3 weeks required, because I been at school for the past 12-15 hours(long bus ride) So the egg wasnt really warm, the shell was a little cold

2.He bought me 2 eggs, but during school, I accdentely cracked one of them, but its a tinyyy crack, so did i damage my future chick?

3.So though my chick wasnt warm all today (cusi was at school), like about 15 hours, did I damage it anyway?

4. So now I have the two eggs, & like a heated lamp next to them, What next?

5. OO, & if I keep them togheer( the eggs) will I damage them?

6. How do i know if my egg will hacth? I dont want to leave my lamp on for 3 weeks & realze that the egg was not fertile.

THANK U GUYS!

As soon as an egg starts to incubate they baby chick starts to form. So most likely your eggs died.

Have your friend bing you two more if he will but tell him to leave them at Room Temperature.

IF the eggs has been fertized it will start to grow as soon as you start to incubate.

Temperature is very important. IF there is no cirulation the temp needs to be 102 degrees. If your temp is off even 1 degree over the 21 day incubation period, it will interfer with the growth of th embryo

While it can be done if closely monitored trying to an lamp to incubate your eggs is extremely difficult. IF you could invest in a small styrofoam incubater you will more likely be successful in incubating your eggs. Check at a farm home store for a small incubator or learn how to build one. You could probably use a styrofoam chest with a termastate and heating element.

1. It may still hatch, it's probability just went down some; I think it was a 50% chance after a week, and 90% if it's only one day. What I'd be worried about is if the eggs got bounced...like on the bus. That's far worse than cooling off.
2. Depends on what's tiny. And it wouldn't be the chick exactly, it'd be it's chances of hatching. If it's under a 1/4 of an inch, I wouldn't worry. Some people who raise very expensive birds use nail polish to seal a shell if they cracked it...
3. Probably not, it hasn't yet started developing.
4. You raise the air temp around them to 99* to 100* fareheit at keep it there, with no variations. You turn them an odd number of times perday (this way they don't get stuck on the same side every single night), probably 3 to 5 times. More is better.
5. Not likely
6. You can candle them around 2 weeks to see if they are developing. Go into a dark room, and shine a flashlight through the egg...if you can see blood vessels or the embryo, it's good.

If your egg has not been fertilized by the male bird, it will NOT hatch.
