My daughter's school is raising funds for the school. They're doing so by the children donating spare change. The winning classroom will be the classroom with the HEAVIEST collection.

So: What's the best strategy for the class who wants to win? Bring rolls of pennies?

Pennies would give you the most "weight per dollar."

Just take 50 dollars and convert it to pennies

It would weigh 31.25 pounds.

You'll teach your daughter a valuable lesson in how contests (like elections) can be bought.

And don't bring in ROLLS!, that's obviously going to be considered cheating. No one rolls their spare change.

Yes, just convert all of the donations into pennies.(kind of defeats the purpose of the fundraiser, though.)

US Coinage
Penny Standard weight 2.5 grams
Nickel Standard weight 5.0 grams
Dime Standard weight 2.268 grams
Quarter Standard weight 5.670 grams

so it would be best to collect pennies, because none of the others would weigh enough per amount.

If it's weight you want, nothing beats rolls of pennies. I've seen contests like this before -- rolls of pennies!
