How old do you have to be to use TD Ameritrade?
I looked at their website but I could not find if there was a age restriction on making an account.

Technically, you must be 18 years old to bind a contract in the USA. However, a responsible party under age 18 can legally bind a contract also and not even require a co-signer unless the second party insists otherwise.

With regards to T-Ameritrade, just lie about your age if you intend to deal with penny stock on the internet. Lots of kids do that and as long as they don't run a deficit in their portfolio they won't have a problem at all.

Penny stock is not that great if selling and buying often because Ameritrade eats most of the profits in transaction fees. Nonetheless, I know a few kids having already a few thousand dollars after five years, so it can pay off if you are careful.

Good luck.

In the US, you have to be 18 to be legally bound by contracts. Chances are TD won't take your money if you are under 18. You have to fill out an application which asks for date of birth and Social Security number.

I've been with them for years. They were Waterouse Securities. Then TD Waterhouse. Then TD Ameritrade. Great low cost broker, great services and very trustworth. Good luck.

18 with money at hand.

Minimum balance in the account is $2,500.

You can also have a co-signer if you're under 18.
