The hours passed into Tuesday and more facts came out: the names of victims and the gunman, the weapons used, some of the thinking by police after the first shootings and that an emergency alert system in development is not yet operational.
But questions persist, not least what happened during the two hours between the first shootings in West Ambler Johnston Hall and the larger massacre at Norris Hall. On what evidence did campus police conclude the campus was safe during that time? How did the gunman make it a half-mile across campus unstopped? Why didn't the school notify students and staff sooner? What crisis plans did the school have in place and were they followed? What measures has the school implemented since last fall's manhunt of an escaped prisoner? People want answers to those questions immediately, but it will be a slow process of discovery.Perhaps it will turn out officials failed spectacularly. There could be cause for resignations and firings. Or, perhaps officials responded appropriately to what they knew at the time, and nothing could have prevented a lone shooter from bringing hell to the tranquil hills of Southwest Virginia.

We used to care and do something but then someone in government decided it costs too much money to have services and mental hospitals which help control these problems.

The college didn't do anything, because they wanted his enrollment money.

So what happened in Virginia is the result of greed and people not caring about people. Sounds like corporate America doesn't it? Government is just as extension of corporate america in an inextricably tied way

But there is a long list as to why what happened on that college campus in Virginia happened. I can't write all of it here.

They said on the news that a few people, that being a teacher and someone else had reported his unusual writings and usual behavior, but they couldn't do anything because he hadn't committed a crime. he hadn't really done anything wrong. it's funny how now that this has happened other people come forth with all these things that he did that were unusual. But not illegal. I don't think anyone would have seen this coming. this was way too big.

The school can't legally do anything to a troubled student. Liberals have forced us to "mainstream" troubled kids in a effort to make them normal. This has obviously not worked.

Wow! Politicallyyours is an idiot!

I don't know, but my old college tracked down ANY suspicious activity and notifies the police/security if anything a little fishy goes on.

They need to have tighter security, I guess no one realized he was that desperate for help?

HE WAS REPORTED! They tried to get him help but he REFUSED! He was an adult, they couldn't force him.
