You'll feel it going in, of course, but once it's in you shouldn't feel it at all . . . kind of like wearing earrings. Just push it in as far as it will go, and pull out the applicator. Don't worry -- it can't get "lost" up there!! There's really not much space for it to go anywhere but exactly where it belongs.

OH, and RELAX! If you are all tense, it'll be harder to get it in.

Poor thing. Did you want step-by-step directions?

1. Relax! Try not to worry about inserting the tampon right the first time. If you are tense it will make insertion harder.
2. The best time to practice inserting a tampon is during the heavy part of your period. The tampon should glide inside your vagina easily without any discomfort.
3. Decide if you prefer to insert the tampon standing or sitting. If sitting is your preference, sit on the toilet. If you want to try standing, putting one foot on the bathtub helps.
4. Hold the tampon applicator in your right hand if you are right-handed, or left if left-handed.
5. Use your thumb and middle finger to hold the bottom of the larger, outer tube.
6. Point the tip of the applicator toward your vagina, facing slightly towards the back. The smaller tube should be pointed away from your body.
7. Use your other hand to open your vagina.
8. Place the tip of the applicator at the opening of your vagina.
9. Gently push the smaller end of the applicator in until it is completely inside the larger outer tube. This pushes the tampon into your vagina and out of the tube.
10. With your thumb and middle finger still on the outer tube, release the smaller tube and let the strings dangle freely.
11. Gently pull the two tubes out together.
12. Dispose of the applicator according to the manufactuer's instructions.
13. When you are ready to remove the tampon, gently pull the withdrawl strings down and forward. The used tampon may be flushed down the toilet.

If you feel it, or it feels uncomfortable, it's probably not inserted far enough. Remove and try again with a new tampon.

I would buy the ones without the aplicator until you get the hang of it. Buy a box ot OB tampons (lowest possible) Open one up tug at the cord a little because sometimes the cords are faulty. Stick your finger in the center of the tampon and insert it as far as your finger will go without hurting. It may take a few times until you get it right. If you don't like the way it feels remove it but wait a little while before trying another one. Because if it is to dry down there it will not slid in very easy and will fill uncomfortable.

if the tampon is in place correctly, you will not be able to feel it. All you do is stand in the shower or sit on the toilet or stand with one leg up, like on tub, and insert the open end of the tampon gently into your vagina, and push on the applicator until it has been pushed all the way to the end and pull applicator out of your vagina and discard. Make sure the string can be felt outside your vaginal opening, but do not pull on it. It should not hurt. Make sure you are using the right size for the amount of blood flow you are having. The wrong size can cause problems. Every 2-4 hours change your tampon by gently pulling on the string until it comes out, if it is very dry and hurts, you are using too big of a size. Good luck!!

When you insert the tampon be sure it is all the way in. You will probably have to try several times before you figure out which way is comfortable to you. When I first started using tampons I did feel them until my body just adjusted to it. Don't give up. Also try using a panty liner until you get the hang of it, this will prevent any mess.

Good luck!

Try using an ob tampon there more comfortable. When your going to use it go to the bathroom and place one of your feet on the toilet seat. insert the tampon don't insert it straight up do at a angle about 45 degree angle push it all the way until your finger is all the way in make sure you have the string in your hand. Remove you finger and then you shouldn't feel anything at all.

If you buy one of those tiny ones and you put it right I don't think you'll be able to feel it or at least be uncomfortable by it.

Once you take the wrap off, stand up, separate your legs and insert the part of the tampon that contains the fabric or cotton (whatever) "you know where" and push towards inside the other extreme of the tampon in order that the fabric gets inside you. That would be it, basically.

i'm guessing you bought the ones with an applicator...

you take the tampon and insert it in you vagina. make sure you indert the right side. it should just naturally slide right in, the whole thing... with one hand holding it in place, take the other hand and pull on the finger grip of the tampon. you should be pulling the applicator out, leaving the tampon in. once it's in, you won't feel it and you can't feel it. make sure you have a string hanging out though!! when it's time to take out, you'll start feeling discomfort or leakage. pull the string and repeat the process.

Get the type with an applicator, smallest possible!! And you can practise when not on your period!! Try smearing a very small amount of vaseline, or olive oil on outside, and follow instructions, but you must relax!! You really shouldnt feel it once its in. maybe for the first few times you will be aware of it, alittle like when you try your first bra!! but you will get used to it. Persevere!! Good luck!!

I struggled with them at first and gave up but tried again later and they are much better than pads.
If you period is very light or it’s the beginning or end of your period it may be harder to insert them. Push them in, in the direction you would as if you were pushing them towards your back rather than up. Push them far in (however make sure the string still hangs down), this way they should not be uncomfortable as you walk around etc.
