Yes, it is possible. It happens in rare cases. Also, frequently women will have what is called implantation bleeding when they get pregnant, which they might confuse with their regular period.
I know for myself, personally, I had my period for the first 2 months of my first pregnancy. I don't know how that is possible, but it happened. Since then, I have read hundreds of accounts of other women who have had their periods either during the first trimester only, or throughout the whole thing.
So, if in doubt, test!
Here is an article from Medicinenet.com which backs up this statement.

The person who said she is pregnant and is still getting a period is wrong. You can't have a period while you are pregnant because your period is your body getting rid of the unused egg and the blood lining of your uterus. You can bleed though while you're pregnant but it's not a period. There are many reasons for bleeding or spotting while you are pregnant. I don't really know what they are, but you should check with a dr. if you are pregnant and bleeding. Sometimes the bleeding is harmless, but other times there could be a problem.

Yes i had a friend that had her period for months and therefore she didn't find out she was pregnant until she was 5 or 6 months! I guess it would be uncommon but i have heard of it happening. Pick up a test from your supermarket - it would be worth the peace of mind!
Good Luck

no, you cannot have your period and be preggers at the same time. there is no egg at the time of a true period to be fertilized, but yes you can have a light bleeding which is not a TRUE PERIOD LIKE ALL GIRLS THINK.it could be a light spotting like specks which is normal at pregnancy, ANY BLEEDING DURING OR IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SHOULD BE REPORTED TO YOUR DOCTOR!!!. GOOD LUCK.

No, a period is the disposal of the unused egg and uterus lining. You can bleed and be pregnant though, but it's not a period.
