I would tell them that it is against policy to let anyone in and then call an RA and let them deal with it

I had this happen a couple of times when I lived in the dorms. I always would let in the people I knew lived there, but if it was someone I didn't recognize I would direct them to campus police for assistance.
If they got upset with me I might ask what room they lived in and go and find their roommate or neighbor to let them in. Depending on how upset they got. If they were ugly about it I let them sit there and wait. If they just seemed anxious I would offer to grab a roommate, neighbor or floor resident.

in the beginning, this would not take place at my living house because of the fact we shop all of our doorways locked. I stay in a huge city. If by coincidence he broke in, between the iguana and the canines, i'm afraid he does not have a great number of of project. We does not could desire to call the police officers, I definitely have a pottery kiln, electric powered saws and that i be attentive to a thank you to do away with the physique.

I've probably lost my keys a million times, so i'd probably let them in. If the person was trying to be sneaky, they would be walking behind you to catch the door before it closes, not being polite. If it's a psycho, they are getting in anyway, one way or another, most likely, so one shouldn't consider this too much of an ethical dilemna.

Go to the front desk and tell the attendant the person could not get in. Do not let anyone in your dorm you don't know. It is too crazy, you see what happened yesterday in Virginia?

I would suggest he look for an RA or go to the Housing Office, where they should have an extra key.

That's a good question.
I'd probably just let him in. In my school we had people that made you sign in or ID yourself. Ask the RA, security department, or a dean that question - they all should know local policy, one of them definitely will.

Let him in... Even if you did something stupid like ask to see his ID, he'd probably have student ID and that doesn't solve anything... You cannot be responsible for what other people do or don't do...

About 15 years ago at U of P someone let two colored boys in and they raped and killed a girl. I wouldn't let anyone in.
