yes. they need more room than you think, though. i would not try to raise one in the average city back yard unless i reeaaaaalllllly didn't like my neighbors or was prepared to pick up the poop twice a day.

pigs are also a very social animal. they need company. either have other animals too, or be prepared to spend a lot of time with it. they are also more intelligent than a dog, thus they can get into more trouble, escaping more often and such.

be prepared to get sick more often, too. since a pig, like us, is an omnivore, its flesh is so similar to ours that anything that can infect the pig can also infect us! after all, their organs can be transplanted into humans, and work fine for years! and this is the REAL reason both Judaic and Islamic law forbid eating the flesh of the pig!

they make great garbage disposals, though. oh, and actually, the vietnamese potbellied pig is a pretty decent apartment animal! it's small; tops out at about 300 pounds. if you want an apartment animal DON'T get a tennessee razorback or one of the other big breeeds. to parpahrase the old joke, where does an 800-pound sow sleep? anywhere it wants!

No, they are not. Pigs, if left on their own , in a very short space of time, would very soon revert back entirely to the wild, both in extreme appearance, and habits. In fact, most animals that have become domesticated were once wild animals. However, no man has ever tamed : THE ZEBRA.
