I would entirely depend on what it is you are trying to sell. The number one rule in selling is know your market. Check them out and see what types of crafts are selling, then take it from there.

I didn't. It seems like they are selling mostly to each other. In fact I bought several items from other crafters when I was selling there! Your items do show up in search engines, but Etsy needs to advertise more so the general public will realize they can be trusted.
