the first thing to do is to open the hood and see if the air conditioning compressor belt is on the car. If it is, then turn the engine on, and turn the air conditioning on. you should hear the air conditioning compressor "click" as it engages and disengages. If you hear the click and the air is warm, the refrigerant is low and a recharge will usually get it back to working. If you don't hear the "click" then the problem will need to be isolated.

In most cases, a system that is very low on or out of refrigerant will not allow the compressor to engage because the oil that lubricates the internals of the compressor is carried in the refrigerant. Special equipment is required to test the pressure of the system, recover and recharge the air conditioning system, so take it to a dealer or air conditioning shop for the pressure test and recharge. If there is a leak in the system the test will show that. A dye is usually used to isolate the leak when the refrigerant has leaked out of the system. Seal replacements are relatively inexpensive.

Beyond a seal leak there could be damage to the compressor, a bad a/c thermostat, contamination in the system and other potential causes. Any competent a/c technician can isolate the cause if the cause is other than a simple recharge or seal replacement.

hope that answers your question

Have someone check to see if you have any pressure in the a/c system first then you go from there, leaks, switches, fuses, thermostat, wiring and the list goes on.
