Because they are getting beaten by a better team. They can't handle it, and Brodeur says 2 of the goals the other night were "fluky" or lucky...ok but what about the other 7 he's let in? Whinning Whinning Whinning

And I think Hockeygirl above me is forgetting that 5 Lightning players (St. Louis, Lecavalier, Richards, Boyle, and Kuba) have better offensive stats then half the Devil's team. Devils only have Parise.

well I'm sick and tired of the commentators saying this is out of Martin Brodeur vs Johan Holmqvist which it's not Brodeur hands down is a much better goalie. the real battle is Brodeur vs the Lighting offence with Lecavalier, St-Louis and Richards. the Devils offence was ranked 26th in the NHL at the end of the season but it was all Brodeur this year for the Devils. and that's why Lou fired Julien to try and get some offence out of the Devils team cause they won't go far in the playoffs when your team can't score. The Lightning forwards and defence is much better then the Devils offence and defence but Brodeur is the only reason the Devils made this years playoffs which he will have a 90% chance of winning the Hart Trophy as the NHL's MVP.

The Devils are being beaten by a team that has skills that they are not prepared to match up against. Maybe if they had an experienced coach (oh wait, they did three weeks ago) the game plan would make sense and they would have a shot at getting to the next round. Bolts in 5.

They are not necessarily getting beaten by a better team.

The winning team in the playoffs has always been a combination of skill, talent, grit and luck.

Ask any hockey player and they will tell you that.

The BEST team does not always win the Stanley Cup.

The team that survives all the of series does.

The winning team sometimes is the team that has a little skill, a little talent, a little grit and quite a bit of luck.

I can remember many a playoff after game interview where the team or coach will talk about the lucky break, bounce etc.

Better Question, WhY dOeS eVeRyOnE kEeP pIcKiNg On ThE dEviLs even though they have already proven themselves to be an amazing team in the past with all of the Cups they have won. And, they aren't even doing that bad the series is 2-1 and can go either way. DUHHHHH

what is the series score? oh yeah, lightning 2, Devils 3. If they are being beaten by a better team, why are they winning?

Good teams make their own luck. That series isn't over but the devils do have to find a way to score. You can't win many 1 - 0 games against an offense like TB.

i don't like how they're making excuses. BUT, there's no way in hell i belive that the Lightning are just a flat-out better team then the Devils. If u disagree, then just keep they have Marty Brodeur so, they have the obvious advantage in the net, which in the playoffs is an even bigger advantage than usual. Devils in 7.

i think the devils and tampa bay are both good teams...
no ones gonna come out and say "we're losing cause we suck"
not that the devils suck or anything =P

They may be getting beaten by a team that is PLAYING better NOW.

Tampa Bay is NOT a better team.

Check the final standings.

And remember there IS such a thing as luck in Hockey.
