What is the name of that movie and show?

For the movie:
It's from the 80s or 90s and I'm not sure if it was a real movie or a made for tv movie, but it was about an alien family that lands on Earth somehow and they end up staying with a suburbian family that tries to disguise them as people. The alien family ends up "going home" at the end of the movie, and their home was something related to a field of pinwheels or something like that.

For the TV show:
It was a tv show that came on PBS in the late 80s early 90s that was about these people dressed up as cats. NO, it was not the musical "CATS". It came on really early in the morning right before "Lamb Chop" and "Mister Rogers".

This has been bugging me for years.

The movie wasn't Coneheads. The alien family was in alien form and they were all very tall and skinny.

The cat show wasn't puppets. It was people dressed up like cats.

The movie sounds like it might be the Coneheads...but that may not be right. For the tv show were you perhaps thinking of Kitty Cats? It was puppets...and my daughter used to watch it in the 90s.
