Geramany didn't enter World War 1 until 1917 and was only engaged in a few actions up to the Armistice in November 1918. All their fighting was done against German troops.
PS - The ship Judy mentions was the Lucitania. However, she was sunk in 1915 and this did not bring USA into the war. Germany's later refusal to guarantee the safety of USA shipping crossing the Atlantic, together with the interception of the Zimmerman telegram, which spoke of offering German support for a Mexican offensive on south-western USA, were the reasons that USA finally entered the war.

U.S didn't really get in any war in WWI at first.Look for the cartoon picture of a "Ostrich" who bared only his head in the ground. The ostrich is U.S and bared his head into the ground means U.S didn't really want to be bother and get involve in the war at first.

Then German sinken" The Louisiana" ,a big ship with a lot of US citizen on broad. US then declared war against Germany and their alien, including Italy.
