It is very hard to do the Heimlich maneuver on such a little bitty thing, so i think you had best let the fish get rid of it on its own. How do you know it is choking, is it making little coughing noises? Most fish that I have known often pick up rocks and spit them out, it is just a fun way of passing the time.

I suggest just leaving him alone...the rock could pass through his gill plate or he could just spit it up!!! Your mom could accidentally push the rock further down his throat and kill him if she tries to dislodge the rock...also don't EVER pick up a fish...they have a slime on there bodies that can be wiped off if humans handel them!!! Or if it seemes serious better yet CALL a vet and see if they can give your mom instructions over the phone!!!

I hope your goldfish is okay!!!

Do not take the fish from the tank. oldfish are known for doing this. Give him time and he will cough it up or pass it thu his gill plate on his own.

No worries. Even if the rock is lodged for a few hours, your fish can still breath.

Don't worry he will pass it.

Give him several hours before you try anything to remove the rock. Usually they can dislodge such things by themselves and it's far better for the fish if he does and you don't have to remove him from the water and handle him.

My Shubunkin was "choking" on a pebble. Don't worry. After about an hour he spat it out.
