Hi, I'm in HR. Only you know if your boss or your company are the type to replace you and kick you out. It's legal by the way, if you were going to ask, though not ethical. It's also pretty rare. I would split the difference and tell him with about 2-3 months left to go. That way you are giving a nice long notice which will help him replace you, but not really giving him enough time to get you out the door if he were so inclined. I would doubt you'd be fired early, most employers don't do this. He should be grateful for the long notice though, and your ability to tie up loose ends or even train your replacement. Now is too early and gives them too much time to think about what they'll do when you leave. Good luck and congratulations!

You have to know what kind of boss you have here. If you tell them now you may be fired on the spot if they're jerks. It also depends on what kind of work you do. Anything more than a month and you're probably looking for trouble. Plus if you are due any raises or bonuses you can forget it if they know that you're leaving. 3 weeks for a professional level person is considered about right. 2 weeks for most others but again it depends on your boss and what kind of relationship you have with them. If they really like you and need you they may even pay you more so that you don't quit even if you move. If he suspects and is fishing for an answer don't lie but you can always be cagey about it if you're not ready to say yet. Tell him that you're not really sure should he ask. Good Luck.

If your boss suspects, he could replace you. Be a good employee and tell him face-to-face that you are projecting (use those words) to get married and move. That gives him time to begin the search and possible training your replacement. But when your plans are solid, then give at least two weeks or more written notice, even if you have told the boss verbally.
Yes, you are taking a chance but if you want a fantastic recommendation from your current boss you'd better have the professional courtesy to respect his judgment and give as long as notice as you can.

Tell you boss there is a "possibility you will be moving in 6 months, and that to be fair, you wanted to give them a heads up, for a smooth transition to the next person. Asumming you are a good employee they won't ax you, and they will give you a glowing recommendation for future prospective employees. Offer to help train the new employee... bosses love that kind of stuff.

Do the math. Figure out what it would realistically take to make it worth your while to commute. Then talk with your boss. Show him the numbers. Find out if he thinks you are worth the extra money? The time and money it would take to find, hire, and train a new person may even itself out by giving you the raise. Plus it shows appreciation for the job you do, and you are showing that you care about the well being of the company.

Technically you are only required to give two weeks notice but as a courtesy I would give him at least a month's notice. If he already suspects you may have to tell him even sooner. He can't just kick you out once he has your replacement either so I wouldn't worry about that.

U should tell him but he should respect you because u tell him your sitaution others may do not tell him of their moving and this will cause harm to your boss. then your boss will not fired u I wish that.

Give him 2 weeks notice - some companies won't accept notice and you'll be out of work. Better to be off 2 weeks instead of 2 months.
