in chapter 5, what does miss maudies comment "sometimes the bible in the hand of one man is worse than a whiskey bottle is in the hand of...oh, of your fater" reveal about her attitudes toward Atticus and to people in Maycomb who appose atticus?

The first answer is correct, and it shows that she respects him and she feels he is a good person and a good father. Atticus would never intentionally hurt someone, not even if he had been in a drunken state. Some people in Macomb try to hurt everyone, misinterpreting the bible, and are ignorant hypocrites.

Because some people use the Bible to attack and hurt others when they think they are being righteous. Whereas, Atticus wouldn't hurt anyone even if he was under the influence of alcohol.

Shes saying that it doesnt matter the weapon that a man holds, its the man who is holding it, that determines the harm.
