rush to clean it and then apologize for the mess which isn't much of a mess.

Good question!
I always check the boys' bathroom first...need I say why? LOL
I'll run around in a mad rush to make sure things look tidy, but anyone that is just going to pop over knows me well enough to know I am not a clean freak...tidy, yes, but you may find dust on the mantle LOL
*Did you know that dust is primarily made up of human skin particles? I think I must have a man behind my couch!!!

God, maybe you live w/ the dust bunnies under my bed? Sounds just like us! My husband thinks we are unusual in this respect. I say people should call 1st, or at least have the decency to lend a hand if they come unannounced. Our bedroom always looks like a cyclone has hit after these mad dashes of housecleaning. When I want to clean-up in general, my kids always ask "Who's coming over?" Like that is the only reason worth cleaning up for. You are not alone.

I do a little pick up. For the most part my house is always clean. So not a mad rush is needed.

I always rush whenpeople decide to just show up. I can't keep my house emaculate no matter how hard I try and yes the stuff ends up in our spare room also. Nice to know I am not the only one who does this.

Depends on how much time I have. With enough time, I rush through the whole house to pick up and straighten. With less time, I check kitchen and bathrooms. A lot of mess can be overlooked if your bathrooms and your kitchen are clean.

I will invite people over on purpose, just so I rush to clean. So, we have company over once a year. Things are going to get messy when I die, why bother being so neat when Im alive. I have a life to live, I don't have time to be perfect.

NOPE! House is always ready. Come any time.
Want to know the secret? Keep the mess to only one room in the house so clean up is very easy and quick.

If it is a close friend, I don't to do much cleaning up because they don't care. If a someone not very close is, I try to make the place look nice for them. Even if it means stuffing tons of stuff into a small closet to hide it!

I usually hide questionable items and make the bed really neat. If the tub isn't sparkling, I just pull the shower curtain closed. Men don't look behind shower curtains and in medicine cabinets the way we do.
