Each bank can set the standards by which they consider a check cleared. Some banks will give 3 days for certain types of checks and 5 or more days for others. The responsibility for how the account is handled is on you and solely on you. When you made the deposit and asked when it would clear the teller would have told you. Your money is your responsibility. You need to budget yourself and plan your purchases and payments accordingly. Your money. Your responsibility. Get the info you need from your bank as to what the time limits are (different types of checks have different clearing times) and be informed so you won't have to go through this again. As for the fees, you can try talking to customer service and see what happens but don't expect 100% wipeout since technically it was your fault.

Yes, this is consider a breach of confidentiality. Because when a person opens a bank account only the person on that account can receive that information pertaining to their own account. To help gain better understanding of your question go to any local bank and ask to speak to the president of that branch. Then ask your question that you have posted.

If you are using names, definitely, but if you are speaking in general terms about so & so without names, I would think not. Best to say nothing at all!
