Funny, everyone seems to want to portray war....

I would choose the 1920s -- the dichotomy between the agricultural class and everyone else is insane. Plus, it was a period of incredible American art that included the Lost Generation.

Either that or the Depression. You know, time of extreme poverty and all of that, being able to capture all of it to show later generations what it was like.

General Lafayette handing over the English Commander in Chief Corwallis to General Washington and telling Washington, "Here you go, we beat the English and this should end the war." It was the birth of our country and the first time the USA was truly a country.

Definitely the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. I write more about the bad side of things, I'm not all about cheery days and sunflowers. The assassination of President Lincoln brought great grief to all the nation. When such things are written, drawn, or painted, they become more powerful than most things, and they relate and capture the viewer/reader more.

those professions, even although noble, do no longer likely make contributions something extra desirable than artwork and aesthetics, to society... the way civilizations artwork is that all of us stay jointly and supply needed amenities to a minimum of one yet another... So I might desire to respectfully disagree, absolutely everyone serves their purpose. In a capitalistic society, human beings fulfilling roles that are no longer necessary tend to be eradicated (layoffs working example these days).

i would definately write about the civil war, and how that war changed the landscape both physically, spiritually and politically forever. i would also write poetry heavily to highlight some disasters in our history like the anti-indigenous actions of the government by relegating tribes to barren lands and stripping them of their freedoms, mass relocation, and the continued occupation of their lands contrary to the endless stack of treaties and broken promises.
