It seems you are assuming the ex-husband cheated or behaved badly.
Many times, it was the ex-wife who was unfaithful.
Still, I can see where either scenario would appear unreasonable that the ex-wife be bitter.
I've just never understood why my cheating ex-wife is so bitter. She got what she wanted, her divorce. So why, if she didn't want me, was she so mad when I started dating and it appears she is mad that I'm planning to get married.
So forget other women, what about MY questions about why my ex-wife can't be friendly when she was the one who cheated and got the divorce she wanted.
Could it be that I wasn't as much of a problem as she thought, and since I wasn't the problems followed her?
I tried to tell her, but she was convinced it's me. Now years later, she doesn't seem any happier, without me.

Because they like many others today have a thought that how they see or consider themselves is what they have a right to demand others see and treat them as.
But, then again, many of those who got left have really only themselves to blame in many situations too, not that they will ever see or accept that. They often are the ones who have few if any reason to be upset, considering they caused much of their own problems.

I would agree. I was engaged two years ago and the ex chose not to even speak to me, which was fine, but if she did it was forced. I'm with someone now (I broke off the engagement last year) and the man I'm with now, his ex gf is psycho, seriously. So no talking there.

Perhaps they just want to have a peaceful life and if there are children involved and contact is inevitable they just don't want to potentiate new drama.
Being polite and/or friendly is just a way of being an adult and dealing with other adults that you don't have a choice but to deal with them.
