Hello my friend, I think no one on earth is completely and totally independent of anything...
We all use electricity, water, gas, food, clothing and shelter...
Unless you are able to live on your own paid for land with your own crops growing and solar energy and ride a bike and stay at home and owe no bills, you cannot be totally independent of others...
We always rely on others for our needs in some capacity and will always do so, unless we can totally survive alone...
I am currently and most likely disabled for life...
I have been like this for 5 years now...
I am preparing myself for my mothers death and expenses involved in that capacity...
Being out of work so long I have found out no one is sympathetic to you and no one in legal departments understand you have not saved up money for your parents death...
They all think I am supposed to have this special fund developed by now and will not understand my debts had to be paid surrounding my disability, surgery, medicine, and pain...
I also found out my mom's insurance will not pay at the time of her death and will wait on the death certificate and I must somehow pay for her burial in the meantime...
That seems so out of line since she paid on her policy for over 30 years...
So since life is not fair, I presume no one can live without the help of others in some way or another ever...

i think of that while you're extremely in love, marraige and engagement can the two wait. You sound such as you have particularly interesting and healthful aims in life. It would not all might desire to take place now. you do not might desire to be engaged to objective the strenth of your courting. Being removed from one yet another will try it sufficient. additionally, i don't think of it extremely is optimal to vow to marry somebody whilst your life is going to alter over here few years. Why do your acquaintances might desire to be married actual now whilst they might't even help themselves? You sound very mature, and attempt to persuade your self to make an exceedingly immature selection yet you won't be able to because of the fact which you're too clever for that. It would not sound actual to you because of the fact which you recognize greater desirable than your acquaintances did. good success at college.

I think the operative word is "totally," & that includes physical & emotional, right? I'd say no. It doesn't matter if you live in a cave & grow your own turnips (whatever!) there are physical survival needs. Emotional is a bit more complex. Some perceive themselves as 100% emotionally independent; what they don't "see" is the self destructive diminshment of their insulated world. The latter is a personal choice, but I've never seen it successful in the long run.

Being Independent means to do things on ones own. The very deep meaning you are talking about means to go with out, support and or love; it means not to be accepted and the list goes on. We would have to be quite messed up to think we can go without any of those things. The answer is a very resounding no.

Well if you take the word to the extreme, then no. Because we depend on food to keep us alive. I could depend on myself to get food, but I'd still need to depend on the source (plants growing, animals living).
So in a 100% extreme sense of the word, it's not possible.

Very broad question, but you asked me to think about what it means. Yes, I believe you can be totally independent, but I also don't think you'd want to be, independently speaking of course. If everything we do is everything we choose to do then you are totally independent.

No.
No one is an island. We are all part of a larger body, or collective. With the information revolution, that body is becoming more domineering, and we are becoming more and more dependent.
