100% agree with you Javo. Race did not cross my mind in this tragedy. What concerns me is how they allowed him to stay in the first place after stalking those girls and setting the dorms on fire! They should have kept the kids safe before it ever got to this point. Students had expressed concern about him before. Why hadn't more been done.

VT has a diverse student body-I doubt that anyone at Tech will hold this against an entire group becuase of this one person's actions. I can't imagine how people can continue to blame Tech and the other student's for this-I just don't get it. Numerous people tried to get him help, he was even taken in for an evaluation after another student reported a suicide threat. This guy didn't want help.
In VA there are guidelines as to how you deal with a mentally unstable person-you can't just walk in to the Dept of Social Services and say this person seems a bit off or creepy take them away. They can't step in until there is an actual incident, a self commit, or a family member seeks services (like say an involuntary commital based on specific factors, and even that can be hard to get). The same goes for the police-they don't arrest for being creepy or if someone is targeted and declines to press charges their hands are tied. And there are policies in place for most Universities as to how a student is disciplined. Again, they can't just kick someone out for odd behavior. Maybe that seems like a bad system, maybe it is a bad system, but you have to work in the context of the system you have. Maybe the outcome of this horrible event will be a review of the policies in the state for dealing with people who have a mental illeness. In the meantime, targeting an entire group over the actions of one person would make no sence at all.

The media seems to be really pushing the killer's nationality/ethnicity pretty hard. It's almost as if the media wants some sort of racial backlash to come out of this incident (surprise, surprise....). The media also seems to be pushing for the various presidential candidates to take some sort of stance or make some sort of comentary on the incident, which would be in VERY bad taste.
Obviously, sensationalism sells. But wasn't what happened horrible enough by itself? Show of hands, people: How many of you out there think that the news media should report what happened and otherwise just STFU?

they are probably worried about hte Asians being discriminated upon because after 9-11 the middle-Easterners were...Mexicans are blamed for bad economy, while those are only two examples they are completely ridiculous. But more so they are groups off people that are classified...cho was just one person. that is ridiculous to pin point all of the Asian community, he wrote a play about his killings too...lets call up Andrew Loyd webber and make accusations about him being a murderer as well...
its all crazy, but people will blame anyone they can...and some do blame the schools, its just a matter of how open or shut ones mind is

I wish they had done more to help Cho. Then this all may not have happened. I hope that this will not fuel any racism against the Asians, just because the actions of one person. May God Bless us all.

In Iowa we had a similar thing happen when a Korean was passed over for a graduate teaching position and got a gun and killed I think 5 and severely wounding another. There was no backlash because it was plain to see that the guy was mentally ill. But we got beat over the head with it for weeks in the news.

They TRIED to help Cho but he refused to be helped! Hopefully racism will not be a problem. One person caused this tragedy, not million of Asians.

Racial backlash or prejudice is a liberal concept. Therfe have been monstrous whites who have committed such crimes so what I think is: just another psycho, unstable, evil person: black, white, red or yellow. Evil comes in all colors!!!90% of blacks, white, oriental, european are goo people and it is human nature and disturbed people that commit these atrtocities. No race or creed is immune.
