What would happen if we withdrew from Iraq on Sept 1, 2008?

Absolutely nothing to be quite honest. The first result would be soldiers reunited with their familes after 5 long years, the next result would be we could focus on domestic issues plaguing us, and the end result would be Iraq would be forced to govern themselves for the first time, since before the war. There would be no massive invasion from rogue forces wishing to regain the country, thats just a ploy.

Remember we helped put Saddam in power once before and used him as a weapon for the CIA to over-throw the dictator Qassim , the country entered immediate stability without foreign aide. It will happen again. Sure there will be some rough spots, you will always have small conflict, but the overall result would be for the best. Most of the radical muslims want us gone , and claim the violence would reduce if "infidels left their soil" , so it's for the best.

By Sept. 8 our withdrawl from Iraq to let those people fend for themselves would make the Pol Pot regime of Cambodia look like a Disneyland vacation. In other words, millions would be slaughtered by al-Quida. al-Quida would then regroup, but instead of publically announcing their going Worldwide like Hezbollah in Lebonon, you'll start seeing buildings fall and people blown up in the USA within months. Dick Cheney is right when he sez these animals must be completely wiped out over there before they can get a foothold over here. Nancy Pelosi needs to take off her Burkah and follow our vice-prez advice. Do you know how to spell B-L-O-O-D-B-A-T-H????

historically, we'd be back in 10 or so years fighting this again. The Shites would start filling mass graves with Sunnis, the Saudis would get involved to protect their kinsmen, the Iranians would get involved seeing a chance at a land grab. The Turks would have unlimited ability to snuff out the Kurds.
