When a man has a wife or girlfriend, the money he earns becomes "Our Money" while hers remains hers ,seems fishy to me.

For example ,we just got our hair and nails done and bought a new outfit,so there is not enough of "Our" money left to buy motorcycle parts!

Your getting screwed when you marry and you both work all money is to be used to pay bills and to just make life a little easier etc. Then if you have monies left over you can pamper yourself that is why you have a joint account so all money goes into one account and both of you have to be responsible with what comes in to that account and what goes out. Really when you marry a joint account is the only way to go having seperate accounts just start's arguments
and makes the whole financial practice confusing.

Tell her that her money she makes is to help out with the bills and everyhting else she is allowed to give herself a little allowance each paycheck same as you, but really her money should be used to chip into household stuff as well.

Well, with a married couple, it's best when all the money goes in to one account, then all the bills are paid from there. Seems like you have a fishy girl there, if she is keeping her money separate if you are married. You have every right to your donorcycle parts!

If the two of you are living together the income is combined to pay the bills. In marriage this is called "community property" because the two live under the same roof, etc. In bf/gf relationship you can just divide the bills in half if you want to keep the spare change for yourself.

Put both checks in the same checking account and make a budget to see how you are spending the money.

We don't have that issue as anything I earn or he earns goes into "our" checking account. Perhaps you both should have an allowance and that way it will be "fair" and you both can either spend it or save it for a more pricey item later.

That sounds very selfish of her, if you are going to have a joint account that means all money, if not than have separate accounts, and then it could be her money, his money. But for me, we have a joint account and we pay for everything together.

You can solve it like my husband and I did when we were dating and then living together. EVERYTHING IS SEPARATE....He has HIS bank account and I have MY bank account. I buy certain things and pay for certain bills and house hold items and visa verse. Works well for us just gets confusing with everybody else.

Our money is OUR money...not just one or another's & the other claims it. Trust me, we still spend our seperate stuff. He collects things, I buy clothes. But it;s still all our money.
