they built a big supercomputer called "deep thought." they asked it to tell them the meaning of life, the universe and everything. after many years of deliberating, deep thought had an answer. 42. lmao. read the book. good stuff

It is the answer given by Deep Thought to the ultimate question of Life, The Universe and Everything. The trouble is no one actually knows what the question is.
So the Earth was built as a giant super computer, who's carbon based bipedal lifeforms were an integral part of the computer matrix in order to discover what the question was and therefore find the meaning of the answer.
And then the Vogons destroyed it 5 minutes before the final readout. Typical!
"What do you get if you multiply 6 by 9?" was the question pulled out of the scrabble bag by Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect which actually works if you calculate it in base 13.
In other words, life as we know it is actually a computer **** up.

You do need to read the book....qu what is the meaning of life? ans: 42. Its either the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy or restaurant at the end of the universe, can't remember which!

I've heard that some people speculate that the meaning of life could be far simpler than we realize. That it would reduce to a number is probably a humorous take on how we don't understand life's meaning not because of its complexity, but because of its simplicity.

the meaning of life is not 42,, thats funny tho, well if you think of it like this,, every ones diffrent we all got different jobs different likes and dislike ect... but whats the one thing thats the same and we all gonna get it... dont wanna sound morbid but its death.. so my son ..
