The Allies were pushing into Germany and were obviously going to win the war. So Hitler committed suicide and his successor, Karl Donitz called for an unconditional surrender and ended the fighting in Europe.

After the US dropped two Atom bombs on Japanese cities, Russia declared war on Japan and attacked its' holdings on the mainland. At this point the Japanese realized they were facing complete annihilation if they insisted on fighting and surrendered.

The Germans surrendered.
World War II didn't 'officially' end until September 1991.
That was after the Berlin wall had come down, and East & West Germany became one nation again.
In 1945, Germany, as it was at the beginning of the war, no longer existed.

To put it briefly, the Allied forces captured Berlin to end the war in Europe and the US dropped two atomic bombs on Japan to end the fighting in the Pacific.

why did it start ? they had too much gunpower. it stopped cause they ran out of man and gun
