Do we really need to make it EASIER for lonely violent psychopaths to obtain deadly weapons?

That's what conservatives are saying today.

The fact is - very few peaceful people WANT guns, but ALL violent crazy people want guns.

So the smart thing to do is to ban their sale and import.

I know many peaceful people who want and have guns. We need them to protect ourselves from the violent people. If some law abiding citizen had had a gun inside the building at Virginia Tech he/she might have saved alot of lives.
Banning the sale and import would do nothing about the multi millions of guns already in this country. If there were none here, I would agree that we should not bring any. But they are here and criminals would pay no attention to the law. If I ever have to come face to face with a killer, I want a gun in my hand.
By the way, I am a liberal democrat.

He may have a point.... I think I did read something where republicans were trying to put into law that "lonely violent psychopaths" wouldn't have a waiting period and the weapon would be half off with free ammunition.... but only if purchased at Walmart with a note from your shrink saying you fit the bill.

Oh... and where did you find your "fact" on gun peaceful gun owners? Did I miss that poll? hmmmm.

No but we could sure make it easier to get a good education and living wage jobs.

Speaking as a violent crazy person I can tell you for a fact it's very easy for me to buy as many guns and as much ammunition as I'd like but it sure is a b***h to get any sort of mental health care with a low paying job and no health insurance.

I have a permit to carry concealed and a 3 month wait to see a counselor.......

My father is a physician, usually considered a peaceful occupation right, his statement "people who are claiming for gun control need to be taken out and shot." this gun control business is stupid and just disarms the law abiding citizenry. We have nut jobs in our society and it is not the gun's fault these people are dead. Guns dont kill people, people kill people. My point in saying look at the number of homicides associated with cars, should we ban their import and sale to? Or how about alcohol related murder... These products are "responsible" for far more deaths than firearms. Look at the places where there is a high concetrations of firearms like skeet ranges, gun shows etc. How many murders have you heard at those locations? I can tell you there have been far more deaths at "peaceful" locations like the Luby's in Killeen or the University Texas shooting.

I think you do not really know what you are talking about. I know many, many peaceful law abiding citizens who have guns. Not all violent people want guns. Remember the BTK killer, Dahmer, the son of Sam. Disturbed people can be horrible things without guns.
