Neutrality and isolationism ... we didn't want to take sides in the upcoming war, and we didn't want to be involved in any issues overseas, at all, ever ...

America was not a superpower and after the horrors of the war to end all wars, WWI, the United States adopted an 'isolationist policy' of non-interference.

It was America's foreign policy of 'isolationism' which prevented any American interference into the internal affairs of Europe, Russia, or Asia.

That isolationist policy was broken on December 7th, 1941 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, and on December 12th, 1941 when Adolf Hitler declared war on the United States, thrusting the reluctant USA into the current world events of Europe and Asia.

Isolation. The US didn't do much outside of its own borders doing the 1930s. The Great Depression pretty well kept major concern on internal issues and didn't leave a lot fo funding for international affairs.

P.S. Never confuse opinions that people leave with facts and logic.

Actually I think in the 30's america just closed up it's borders to illegals, but before that in the early 20's it had a real people boom.

The 1930s was the only time the US came very close to be isolationist, and that was thanks to the Depression.
