Five things:
1. I have done historical scholarship, which helps us better understand our past and history, which better prepares us to make decisions in the present.
2. I donate money to UNICEF and the American Red Cross in order to help children in need and victims of disasters.
3. I spent six years as a victim services administrator, helping victim service providers attain money and training so that they can help victims of crime in their hour of need.
4. I volunteer in my community, including recycling and tutoring English to ESOL students.
5. Hours of prayer.
I must admit, however, that I have contributed little for science, unless recycling counts. My main role in the scientific world is purchasing and using the technology they produce, therefore providing funding for their work. Science rocks! But it is not for me.

I'm working in genetics to find a cure against cancer. But I personally think that just trying to be a good human being everyday makes an even greater difference.
