I am the gf of Steve. Steve has a daughter who lives out of state with her mother. The mother has a boyfriend and a daughter living with them as well. Recently, the mother went out of state for a RN meeting and left Steve's daughter alone with her bf and didnt tell Steve until she was already gone. While she was away Steve found out that ex-wife's livein bf slaps his child in the face as a form of punishment. Steve confronted his ex who said she didnt have the right to interfere with the way her livein bf parents his child. Steve is very concerned because his ex knew that her bf was doing this, does nothing about it and leaves their daughter alone with him for 5 days. The ex wife and daughter live in Arizona... Is there anything Steve can do? Steve's daughter is not the one that is being slapped. it's the Ex's Boyfriend slapping is own child. We are concerned for both children, however Steve's child is the one this question is in regards to.

Steve's Daughter has just turned 5.
Other child is 9 or 10
Steve's Ex told him.
We are not sure what to do and afraid to call anyone, dont want filing a report used against us.
Not angry about her being left with him, until the slapping details came out.
Apparently this is how the boyfriend handles his daughter on a regular basis.

thats absolutely absurd to slap a child in the face regardless of whos child it is. he needs to go t family court and ffile a petition for custody IMMEDIATELY> not only is this damaging his child but this guy has no right putting his on some one else kid. his ex wife is a friggin idiot for allowing this. if he goes to family court the child will be able to seak up about these accusdations and shell be placed with her dad. this guy needs help picking on a child, whata creep!

There are alot of questions you leave unanswered here. How did Steve find out that the bf slaps his child? How old is the bfs child? Does he do it all the time or was it once because the child got out of hand or too mouthy? Steve should be closer to his daughter so he can keep her if the mother has to be gone. I think if you really thought there was child abuse you would have already called child protective services. So this leads me to believe that you two just don't like the fact that mom left her home with bf. I know I've got the thumbs down coming but too many people are telling you to call CPS without all the facts and smacking a mouthy child in the face isn't child abuse it is discipline in a world where people are afraid to teach their children right from wrong.

You should contact the child welfare agency in the county where they live and report a suspicious incident. It's usually done anonymously (you do have to give your name as a form of them verifying that it is a legimate concern, but they don't give your name to family being investigated). You could also contact the child's school and talk to school authorities to see if they see any form of child abuse, neglect or endangerment. If Steve is still concerned he could contact an attorney and petition for physical custody of his child based on this fact alone. Good luck to you and God Bless.

I would have to say that it is abuse....there are other places on the body that you can give a little pop if needed, but not on the face. Are you for absolute sure that this man has not laid a hand on your BF's little girl? Plus his x should know that it is wrong for him to slap the child.....and if she is a RN (registered nurse) she could loose her license by not reporting it. Maybe your bf could tell his x, that she may possibly loose her RN if she does not do anything....she will be considered and accessory.....Most states don't play when it comes to things of this nature.

steve can try and contact the courts and say that the live in bf is slapping his child and that steve fears his daughter is not safe even though the live in bf has not been physical with her. i don't know how he can help the live in bf's child unless you guys can find the mother and voice your concerns to her or you can try calling protective services.

Its child abuse. Mental and physical. Call DHR. You can be anonymous, but I wouldn't because I would want him to know I'm watching and don't intend to let my daughter live in a situation like that. Shame on her mother for leaving her child with him in the first place. Steve should be furious.

well...unfortunately you can't do anything about a child you have no custody rights to. however, you can get a revised court order that does not allow either parent to use corporate punishment or allow a third party to inflict such punisment in your minor. (in your case Steve's). but...you can report to child protective services without giving your name. what you do say is to request the social worker speak to steve's daughter specifically as a witness if she was a witness to this action.

Call child protective services of that area. It is everybodys business if a child is abused. CPS will investigate each call.
