when every religious group believes God is on their side?

Different religions have different beliefs and even within religions you have different interpretations.

For example, northern liberal christians like the Quakers were among the first to fight against slavery. Southern conservative christians like the Southern Baptists Convention were for defending slavery. Both used the Bible to support their views.

It's about as good an idea as 'moral relativism.'

Which is to say it's a really bad idea that defies common sense.

Come on. Only Atheists have no God. Everyone else believes in One God. So, that, one God has chosen to play with us a little untill we figure it out. He always has the advantage since he is smarter than all knowledge. He will decide when to give us the knowledge to live as one Human Race and not a lot of distinct subgroups. So be it.

I agree somewhat. If a group of people in a church doesn't 'agree' with everyone else they simply start a new religion. Each uses only the portion of the bible that fits what they want and makes life easier for them to slide by.

provides concrete thinking neocons/zealots with a path to follow. It makes them feel better. Sort of like a blanket and a parental tuck in. No matter whats going on in the world they dont have to think or worry too hard because theres a solution readily available.

Thats why I'm agnostic. The church(and I mean all of them) corrupt things to get what they want. I believe if I live a moral life and do my best for me, my family and my neighbors I won't have any trouble when my time comes no matter who is in charge.
