a million - back in John Jay's day, the Fourteenth substitute hadn't been written. 2 - The very language of the quote shows, no longer a constitutional enforcement, yet a private opinion, which incorporates no criminal weight by any ability. 3 - The shape does not propose who could or shouldn't run for public place of work. the only element listed are minimum standards, and faith isn't between them. the only element the form says approximately faith and public place of work is that non secular tests and oaths can't be required to take place of work (Article VI, area 3). 4 - Torcaso v Watkins (1961). examine the case, the result, and the opinion written via Justice Black. *That* is the regulation of the land.

Providence has given our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as privilege and interest, of a Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.

That one?

or, this one?

The people who own the country ought to govern it.
