When I was pregnant with my oldest, I went with her abusive asshole father to the State Fair because he had a motorcycle there for the motorcycle show. I got sick from the heat and the pregnancy and wanted to go home and he was drunk and one thing led to another and he started slapping me around. He'd hit me, pull my back to my feet from my hair then slap me down again- kicking- pushing- you name it. I truly thought he'd kill me. There were people standing around and NOBODY tried to help. Then out of nowhere this tiny little old lady came up- she looked like an old lady from a cartoon- probably 5' even, 90 lbs soaking wet, long dress- hair in a tight perm. She stood right between me and him (He's about 6'4 and 300 lbs. BIG GUY) and said "I dare you to hit me and count on nobody stepping in." He turned and walked away, and this little lady helped me get cleaned up and call the police. I only got her first name, which was Evelyn- but I'll never forget her. She was the sweetest lady I've ever met.

I once had a man at the restaurant (whom I knew from him having worked with my dad) go into an epileptic seizure during lunch. Nobody knew what to do, but I did since I knew him. I rushed to get orange juice and he was so belligerant and twice my age and I had to stay calm (I was shaking inside!) and force him to drink it. I mean arguing with him and practically treating him like a baby while saying "Drink it, Joe! Now! Drink it!" He was cussing at me, but finally did it, and immediately was fine. On his way out, he thanked me for helping him.

I sat down and just shook. But in retrospect, it was almost life-changing to know that I might have saved a life.

Yes, last year I was going through a situation that caused me a lot of grief, but in a way, it also answered many questions about life. I can't explain...it's a healing wound which I don't wish to open again...

Helping a lady who was 103 take a bath at a nursing home..she had the most beautiful skin and personality to match. Very inspirational. Makes you stop and say..."what is it that I keep worrying so much over every day?"

Watch the movie Secrets and Lies
you'll never be the same.

I finally came to grips with losing my Dad one day as I walked the beach. Watching the surf, listening to the ocean sounds, just being out in nature---knowing Dad would want me to be happy. And I am.
