I am starting my own buisness and I will need a web site. Is it worth learning HTML,XHTML and CSS or should I just hire a service to make and provide my web site?

Speaking from the perspective of being a web designer myself, I would suggest hiring an outside party, unless you are willing to spend a lot of time learning HTML, or have an extrememely simple website. You could also try a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor like Dreamweaver and Frontpage.

It really comes down to time and money.
How much free time do you have to invest in learning about web site design and building.
Would you be better off hiring someone or buying an off the shelf design rather than trying to do it yourself?
You could consider the software that I use which can design and build sites for you with no prior knowledge and minimal effort.

You really don't need to learn much HTML to build a website. Especially if you have the right tools and software.

I would say go for it. It's good to face a challenge. A lot of good can come out of it.

If I can do it, anyone can!!

Hire someone. The first site you build will look and navigate badly. Don't let that be the face of your new business.
