Hughes is pitching tonight for Scranton/WB. Being a Yankee fan I'm wondering if all the hype about him is worth it. He had a poor Spring Training and has struggled in AAA. Is he the Brein Tylor of 2007?

No sir -- there is definitely merit to the hype. He had a poor spring, but you have to keep in mind he's only 20 years old in AAA. Most 20-year-olds find themselves in A+ or maybe AA ball, but rarely in the high minors and a borderline major league callup. He's got a bit of stuff to work on, but by 2008 they'll likely give him a serious shot in spring training to make the rotation.

Brien Taylor hurt his shoulder in a barroom fight. He never came back from the injury.
Phil Hughes is the real deal. This kid can pitch. He has the finesse and nerves of a veteran. He may have had a bad pre-season but watch for him to be called up mid-season. He throws smoke.
