Hi there, my baby isnt very active when I am busy. I personally have never bothered trcacking her movements because she is Very active, if I notice that I havent felt her in a little while I just drink some VERY cold water, and sit for a few minutes, she always gets going very quick.

I had that problem, I was told now the baby is getting bigger you may think you should feel him more than you did before because there isn't any room but really they only make small movements and that's why you dont feel him as much. My Dr had me start doing a kick count which meant I had to eat and then lay on my left or right side for an hour, as long as the baby moved 3 times in the hour you were fine. If the baby didn't move 3 or more times in the hour they said the eat something with sugar or drink a very cold glass of ice water and lay back down. If the baby didn't move more than 3 times that hour to call the OB ward or your Dr. and they will most likely have you come in for a NST. But everytime my baby hasn't moved and I went for the NST she was moving all over the place but I just couldn't feel any of the movements. They told me it could have been like her moving her fingers or making facial expressions. Good Luck.

Everything I've read suggests to not start kick counts until week 28 (sounds like you're right about there). You should have an idea by now when the baby is most active--at that point, if you can, lay on your left side and count ten distinct movements. These should happen within two hours but usually much faster than that. If you don't feel anything, drink some orange juice and try again.
At any rate, it's never been proven that keeping regular kick counts prevents fetal death, so it might actually cause more stress than it's worth.
If it makes you feel better, I'm right about where you are (28 weeks tomorrow), and sometimes I go hours without feeling her. But then she acts up again and I know everything is just fine. :-) Good luck!

This drove me crazy in my third trimester! I was carrying twins and I had a really hard time feeling Baby A. What I did was when I wanted to feel the baby move, I'd drink a little orange juice. The sugar makes the baby more active. But it's still possible that the baby is sleeping and even sugar won't help. Be patient, and don't get too nervous, unless it's bee 24 hours without your feeling your little one move. Hang in there!

They sleep a lot. When you get worried, find a knee or elbow and move it. If the baby moves in response to it, it's probably fine. Get a copy of "What to expect when you're expecting" for a more in depth look at movement counting. I can't remember what it said about how many movements in a four hour period, but it's a great book, and very helpful with that kind of question. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help- it's been a while since my youngest was born.

Its normal that the baby won't move for awhile. Most of the time they're napping. What you really want to watch out for is frantic movements and then nothing. Or the baby not moveing at times it normally would. They start haveing a schedule already. The best way to get the baby to move is to drink some juice and then lay down on the couch for ahile. I would poke my belly to make my baby wake up and move if I got nervous. If you can find the butt poke it, that always seems to make my babies move. If you get nervous go to the hospital. My doctor yelled at me for not going when I was worried because the baby hadn't moved for 4 hours. (I went and got a heartbeat moniter from target so I could make sure it was ok) He said that once the heart stops theres nothing you can do so its best to go to the hospital and be safe. My cousin's doctor told her not to worry even though it had been 6-7 hours and later she found out her baby had been strangled in its cord. Just a week away from his due date. Sorry I know people don't like to hear stories like this but its important that you don't feel like you're stupid for worrying. If its been awhile and no amount of pokeing, juice and lying still will make your baby move then head to the hospital.

Doing kick counts is important, but the instructions they gave me were very confusing. What you need to do is find one time of day when your baby is usually most active. For me, this was after dinner. Then, you drink a glass of juice, and lay down someplace quiet. If you feel 10 kicks in that hour, your baby is fine.
I would have some days where I felt movement all day, and then the next day, I would feel nothing! I would be so scared and worried! I finally rented a doppler in my 7th month, and that was great. I could listen to the heartbeat any time, and reassure myself that my baby was ok. It really was a relief. But, if you can't afford that, just try to do the kick counts. Don't panic! Worry and stress are bad for you and the baby!

Your doctor may ask you to do "kick counts".
There will be times when you don't feel him, don't worry...babies sleep, too!
Anyway, choose the time of say he is most active (mine is most active after dinner, for example). Then, when you feel him move, write down the time. Count ten movements, and check the time again. If he moves ten times in two hours, he's fine.
Don't worry so much...you're almost there!! Mabrook!

My baby used to move when I was relaxed and lying down but when I was up and about I couldnot feel her move as often because maybe I was a bit occupied with the task in my hand. So just relax and dont worry too much..just do your routine check up, eat well and excercise well. I wish you all the best in childbirth and after.
