Yeah, that's a really bad idea.
It sounds as if you are taking drugs and are trying to see if the test will catch you.
At the testing center, you will have paperwork and there be given the chance to list any meds you are taking.

It's certainly a red flag to an employer that you are doing something illicit, yes. If you are taking Rx meds and have a particular concern, ask a pre-emptive question such as, "I take some Rx meds and I'm concerned that this might result in a false positive." Can you tell me what you test for so I can check with my physician to see what might show up?"
The employer can't legally ask you about Rx meds since this violates health privacy laws.
Now get off the junk and get to work, ok?

Usually when you fill out the paperwork at the facility where you take the pee test, they will ask what prescription drugs you are taking (be prepared to be honest about it). Otherwise, I don't recommend asking which drugs they test for. I suppose if someone asked me that question, I would automatically wonder exactly WHICH drugs they are taking that they don't want me to know about.

You have the right to ask but don't be suprised if they continue to ask you as you asking this question could be a red flag that you use. I work in a drug/alcohol rehab and our tests check for all types of drugs and alcohol.

I don't know if it would or would not, but the tests are usually for illegal drugs. It kind of depends on how you may make it sound like a good question or a bad one.

No, you should ask. Remember that the person who is actually taking the sample isn't the one who is doing the interviewing. Any conversation you have with the sample taker will likely not make it's way to the decision maker.

If you take medications that are controlled substances i.e. oramorph (morphine) or take adderol than yes, its okay but be sure to explain why. If you smoke pot and are paranoid, just quit for a month, it will get out. cocaine is usually out in 2 days.
