orig price = $47.00
discount = 40% = .4

discount amount = $47 * .4 = $18.80. This is reduced from orig price.

sales price = $47.00 - $18.80 = $28.20. so, you can buy this item for $28.20.

Happy Shopping!

Since 40% is cut off, the new price will be 60% of the original, therefore:

60/100 x 47
= 28.2

Answer: $28.20

The item is 40% off so that means you only have to pay 60% of the original price. To find 60% of $47, multiply 47 by .60

Notice that to find a percent, you have to convert the percent to a decimal by moving it's decimal point left two places. 60% is .60

You may not be comfortable with decimal multiplication but to find the product of 47 and .60, you only need to multiply 47 by 6 and move the decimal point in your answer to the left one space. Therefore, the answer is 28.2

Your item is on sale for $28.20. Good luck with your mathematics problems and remember...just take them step-by-step and keep asking questions. If you keep it up, soon enough you'll be the one answering them!

40% discount means on cost price of $ 100 you get $ 40 discount or less money
so discount on $ 47 = 47 × 40/100 = 47 × 0.4 =18.80 discount.
You will get for 47 – 18.80 = $ 28.20
You can calculate in other way also.
An article costing $ 100 you will get it at $ 60
So fo $ 47 cost will be 47 × 60/100
i.e. 47 × 0.6 = $ 28.80

First: convert the percentage into a decimal.

40% > 0.40

SEc: multiply the decimal with the original price (47).

(47)(0.40)

= $18.80

Third: subtract the new price from the original price.

47 - 18.80

$28.20 is the answer. You need to find 40% of $47 first. You do this by multiplying (47 x .400)=18.8. Make sure you change the percentage to a decimal by moving it to the left two times. (40.0 turns into----------- .400). The answer you get is 18.8. The next step is to subtract the 40% which is the 18.8 from the 47.............(47-18.8)=28.2...........that gives you your answer.

1) (47 x .400)=18.8
2) (47-18.8)=28.2
