I know that sometimes a great tragedy must happen in order to bring about change, but something bothers me. There was one former Virginia Tech student interviewed on CNN because he was mistakenly believed to be the Virginia Tech shooter. At the end of his interview, he stated that he believed that "college students should be allowed to carry concealed weapons on campus and that if one person had had a weapon, the result may have been different."
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I find this a wholly inappropriate comment. Yes, it may be true, but does anyone else see the flaw in his logic???

For the record, I am not in favor of gun control. I have no problems with people carrying a concealed weapon, as long as they have purchased the gun legally, and have received extensive training and certification in order to be responsible for their weapon and its use.

No, then that campus will become the ghetto. Imagine gunshots flying all over the place because of minor arguments or students threatening teacher because they are not happy with their grades. Say NO to GUNS
The policy of dry campus and no guns are fine...
Gun Control = YES

THAT IS WRONG.. THAT IS TOTALLY W R O N G.
I am so sorry, but that comment is inappropriate! I have relatives in college's and high schools and i have a nephew who is growing up, i do not want him to carry a weapon to shoot anyone nor do i want anyone to shoot him in a place that is supposed to be your second home.. Okay, so really, the freedom in America is getting abused pretty bad.. This is not a way to do it.. Really.. I feel so strongly about this. I might not be American, but i am a human being and those people who die are human beings too and i think it is wrong to carry weapons around. Because what comes round, goes round eventually.. They should make tougher laws and get rid of the freaking guns and make sure that no one can get them except for hunters and other people who are licensed to hold them. Because if that is tackled, this will never happen again.
Thanks for this question, there was no need to correct you, you are a logical person..

I do think of it extremely is incorrect to apply it as a platform. The time for communicate is after the thoughts have died down, so as that greater conscientious concept can take over. as far because of the fact the interview is going, I had not viewed it. you are able to desire to place his comments in context nevertheless. He has been via a unhappy journey and nonetheless affected by its impacts. He might have had that perception till now and/or after the taking photos, yet because of the fact that he has been during the journey, and being wrongfully accused at that, he could take delivery of a few leeway in his comments.

Wrong might be a bit strong, but it is in bad taste.
Sometimes it takes a tragedy to get people moving toward a change that may make such a tragedy impossible to happen again, but it sould not be done becuase of personal feeling, but for a desire to remove a threat. . .

yes I see the flaw in his logic but again, if students were allowed to carry then the guy would of been blown away earlier....like say this happened in California for instance do you think that shooter would of lasted so long...heck no students do carry here and he would of been blown away and then that student would of been a hero.

To answer your question, YES it is wrong.
Sounds like that joker was wanting to set up a Virginia version of the OK Corrall - everyone shooting at everything. Sounds like there would have been *more* not *less* injuries in that situation.
