Please don't say, save it as csv.
I can make out the database - on either access or excel, but when it comes to saving it, There is no csv.
I'm an old lady, who struggles like mad to try and keep up. Although I've got the qualifications, I've never done one in a work environment and need help, quickly........desperately!
Simple terms only please.........thanks

I bet you are using Microsoft Word to do the mail merge. In that case, just save the file using Excel in the normal Excel format (whatever the default is when you click the save button, it should end in ".xls").

Start the mail merge wizard in Word (search for help on "mail merge" and there should be a link that will actually launch the wizard directly).

If you mean, save data for mail merge in Outlook (like, say, save a list of *part* of your Contacts?), then what we do is 2 things. (1) Be sure, for all the Contacts that are to be included in the merge, to set up a Category in the Master Categories list. On each Contact, when you edit it, click Categories, and Add a new Category for the first one, then Select that category for all the rest. Then Define a new View which includes that Category as the Filter. Then when you're ready to do a Mail Merge, set yourself up looking at that View.

And don't forget! Whenever you add a new Contact, click the Category if relevant!

(2)This was the important part for my spouse but maybe not for you: Go through the mail merge once (and I won't tell you here, it's too long, and you probably already know it!) and write yourself a cheat sheet, for you can't save much more than what I've described above.

My spouse likes to use all the above, as the View also serves as a "distribution list" when she needs to "mass email" a newsletter to her gardening group.

Hope this helps!
